St Lawrence Village Hall Talk
The reason for sending you this one is to ask whether you would like to join us for our next talk at St Lawrence Village Hall, on Friday February 27th.
We live in a world saturated with artificial visual content, yet very few of us spend time pondering its design. This is especially true of typefaces and letters which in fact speak to us in very powerful and consistent ways.
Aided and abetted by a host of images, Paul Barnes will unlock some of the reasons behind the visual and emotional impact of type and letter design and why he has devoted his career to this field. By way of explanation he will take us through a selection of the major projects he has worked on; from the likes of the Daily Telegraph to the National Trust, Visa and The England Football strip.
Amongst many accolades he was named by the Guardian as one Britain’s 50 best designers and he has lectured and taught extensively across the UK and internationally. It is highly unusual for a community group like ours to get access to a proper industry insider like Paul. It promises to be an inspirational and educational talk for anyone with even a passing interest in design.
As before please message secretary.stlawrencevillage@outlook.com for tickets.
See attached for the event poster and if you want to dig deeper, for Paul’s bio.
Best wishes,
Ed Jenne
