Horticultural Society Spring Show

Date & Time

Saturday, March 14, 2026
4:00 pm

Location

Village Hall

This year’s Horticultural Society Spring Show is being held on Saturday 14 March – and yes, that does mean that despite all this rain, Spring is very much just around the corner. Hopefully like me, you’re already enjoying the beautiful snowdrops carpeting parts of the village and spotted the daffodils that have started popping up everywhere.

The Schedule for the show will be with the next issue of the magazine; it’s also on the village website ( Underriver Village ) and is attached to this email.  Spring Schedule 2026. It sets out the various classes and categories that make up the show – the first 12 are the Daffodil classes and then there are 10 other flower classes, 2 food classes, and finally a children’s class.

Whether this is your first time or you’ve been entering the Spring Show for years, please do support us and have a go this year. The classes might look confusing but I can promise that if you’re unsure and you just enter what you think is right for your flowers, someone will help set you right on the day.

The hall always looks beautiful at the Spring Show so if you just want to come and see the entries and join us for delicious home-made cakes, tea & coffee, you will be very welcome once the hall opens again after the judging.

Timings on the day are –

*  Staging and set-up of entries at 9-10am

*  Hall then closes for judging 10:15-11:15am

*  Tea, Coffee and Cakes 11:15am-12:30pm

Remember that in order to enter any classes in the show you will need to be a paid up member of the Horticultural Society (annual subs are only £5) and you will need to have pre-entered by submitting your form (attached) to Christopher Hurrion by 4pm on Wednesday 11 March. I’m afraid we can’t accept entries after this deadline.

Finally, anyone who has spare seeds, or is looking for seeds themselves – please do bring them with you on the day and/or look for our Seed Table in the Hall.

We really hope to see you on 14 March – its a lovely sociable morning which reassures us all that Spring is here; but if its raining, don’t forget there is cake!

Thanks,
Helen Macdonald
